      What is WCAG?
      WCAG is an abbreviation of the English expression (Web Content Accessability Guidelines), which in free translation means a set standard for the availability of content on a website. WCAG is an international standard for web accessibility, developed by the (World Wide Web Consortium) W3C, an organization dealing with internet standards.
      Since when is WCAG valid?
      The first version of the WCAG standard appeared in 1999, the next edition of WCAG 2.0 - in 2008, and then the version 2.1 came into force - in 2018. The emergence of WCAG 2.1. it led to the creation of Directive 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of October 26, 2016. The introduction of the Directive forced the amendment of Polish law. In Poland, the EU Directive is implemented by the Act of April 4, 2019 on digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities (Journal of Laws 2019, item 848). The Act updates the requirements to the WCAG 2.1 standard, but also, inter alia, the obligation to publish declarations of accessibility on websites determines the scope of monitoring of websites and mobile applications and the rules according to which it is to be performed, as well as the procedures implemented in the event of non-compliance of the entity with the applicable guidelines and standards.
      Who does the Internet Accessibility Act apply to?
      Among others : nurseries and public kindergartens, public institutions, public schools, universities, offices of cities, communes and poviats, voivodeship and marshal offices, government agencies, social welfare centers, penal institutions, courts and prosecutor's offices at all levels, units of the police, city guards, border guards, community centers, public museums and art galleries, metropolitan unions.
